A Gentle Guide to Finding What Speaks to Your Heart

Grief is deeply personal, everyone deals with it in their own way, there is no right or wrong, nor is there a time limit. At Jasper’s Creations, I believe that choosing a keepsake should feel like choosing a companion - something that quietly holds your story, your love, and your memories.

Whether you’re honouring a beloved pet, a cherished person, or a moment that changed you, this guide is here to help you find the piece that feels right.

Begin with the Bond

Start by reflecting on the relationship you’re honouring. Was it quiet and steady, or vibrant and full of laughter? Was it a guiding presence, a source of comfort, or a soul deeply intertwined with yours?

Let the nature of your bond & your heart guide the shape, symbolism, colours and materials you choose, its is what is right for you.

Consider the Symbolism

Each shape carries meaning. Here are a few ideas on the meanings on the shapes of jewellery

  • Heart – for deep love, connection, and devotion

  • Teardrop – for healing, release, and remembrance

  • Crescent Moon – for guidance, cycles, and quiet strength

  • Star – for legacy, light, and those who still shine

  • Oval or Round – for wholeness, continuity, and peace

  • Custom Shapes – for stories that don’t fit a mould

If you’re unsure, trust your instinct. Often, the shape that draws you in is the one that speaks most clearly to your heart.

Choose Your Inclusion

Keepsakes can hold physical fragments of memory, often described as inclusions these can be - ashes, hair, fur, feathers, sand from your favourite beach, earth from a special place or a piece of fabric from a loved ones favourite item. Every single inclusion I use is treated with respect and care, as if it is one of my own, and becoming part of the design in a way that feels gentle and respectful.

Ask yourself: What do I want to carry with me? What feels most connected to the one I’m remembering?

Think About How You’ll Wear It

Would you like something close to your heart, like a pendant? Or something you can touch throughout the day, like a charm or ring?

Consider your lifestyle, your comfort, and your emotional needs. Some people prefer subtle pieces. Others find comfort in something more visible—a quiet tribute they can share or explain when they choose.

Trust the Feeling

Choosing a keepsake isn’t about perfection—it’s about what feels right. If a piece makes you pause, brings tears to your eyes, or feels like a whisper from someone you miss… that’s the one.

There’s no right or wrong. Only what feels true to you.

I'm Here to Help

If you’re unsure, I am always here to listen. Whether you need guidance, reassurance, or simply someone to hold space for your story, Jasper’s Creations is built on compassion & understanding, and to reassure you that "You’re not alone in this".
