Celebrating Presence, Connection, and the Love We Still Hold
Keepsakes are often associated with grief—with holding on after someone has gone. But they can also be a celebration of now. A way to honour the love we still have. The bond we’re still living.
Whether it’s a beloved pet curled beside you or a person whose presence brings comfort, creating a keepsake while they’re still here can be a powerful act of love.
Why Create a Keepsake Before Loss?
Because love doesn’t need to wait.
A keepsake made in the present can:
Celebrate a milestone or memory
Honour a relationship that’s shaped your life
Offer comfort during illness or aging
Create something tangible to carry forward, even long after they’re gone
It’s not morbid. It’s meaningful. It’s a way of saying, “You matter to me. I want to hold this moment close.”
What Can Be Included?
Keepsakes for the living can be just as personal and symbolic as those made in remembrance. You might choose:
A lock of hair or fur
A handwritten note or signature
A favourite fabric or item of clothing
A birthstone or symbolic colour
A meaningful date or engraved message
These elements can be woven into pendants, rings, charms, or even framed keepsakes—each one a quiet celebration of connection.
A Personal Reflection
I know this intimately. I have a pendant that holds the hair of my current boy, Spud. He’s with me now - full of life, love, and mischief. But I wanted something that honours our bond while he’s still here. Something I can wear close to my heart, knowing it holds a piece of him. It’s not about anticipating loss. It’s about cherishing presence.
For Pets, People, and Precious Moments
Whether you’re creating a keepsake for a dog, cat, horse, partner, parent, or child, the intention is the same: to honour love while it’s still unfolding.
Some clients choose to create matching pieces—one for themselves, one for the person or pet they’re celebrating. Others simply want a quiet reminder of a soul they hold dear.
There’s no right way. Only your way.
